…my experiences as a camper made an impact. Their laughter, their attitude, and their affection impacted my life. I continue to learn from them, even beyond my time as a camper. They are genuine role models. As a counselor now, I see the same bright smile in campers faces that my counselors probably saw in mine. When a camper lights up about something new they learned, or in a game with a friend they just made, the world seems to stop with them. It is these smiles that keep me coming back.
Many of my campers were fantastic kids if they were ever given the chance to show someone. I realized it was all about giving them opportunities and being there to see them succeed. Would there be more stress in my job? Probably. Would I get frustrated with the kids and the parents? Most likely. Would it be worth it? Without a doubt. For the last two years, I have been going to camp as an intern and have spent more time on the organizational side…
I cannot thank you enough for the money, dedication and consideration you have put into this camp. This camp is the way for me to get away from the hectic life I have at home. We have made a family within this camp and we wouldn’t be able to do that without you. Seeing all the smiles on the kids faces at every activity is the best feeling in the world! I have been a part of Cabins4Kids for 6 years now and they have been the best 6 years of my life. If it wasn’t for all you have done, Cabins4Kids would be no longer, and if I lost this camp, it’s almost like I lost my family. The kids, staff and counselors have made 4 days life changing! Thank you for all you have done for this camp. It doesn’t only help the organization but it helps the kids too!
With deep admiration,
Miah Stiers (counselor, 16 years old)
